How to deal with different types of debts
Life in Canada is often built around access to credit. Credit cards, lines of credit, personal loans, car financing, mortgages and business loans can all be useful tools when debt is under control. But when prices rise faster than income, interest rates put pressure on the family budget, and minimum payments become an endless circle with no exit, credit stops being a convenience and becomes a problem. According to Statistics Canada, by the end of 2025 Canadian households carried about $1.77 in credit market debt for every dollar of disposable income. This is not just a statistic - it is the reality in which many families live under constant financial strain.

Variable-rate mortgage holders have something to celebrate - on Wednesday, January 26, the Bank of Canada surprised markets by holding its key interest rate at 0.25%, though it did stress that interest rates will gradually rise going forward. The central bank chose not to raise rates despite climbing inflation and a stronger-than-expected economic recovery. Ahead of the Bank's meeting, Bloomberg data showed roughly a 70% probability of a rate hike in January.

Canadian real estate market no longer follows a simple story of uninterrupted growth. After a period of record-low interest rates, intense buyer demand, and rapid price gains, the country moved through a sharp tightening cycle, slower sales, and a serious reassessment of risk. Yet the central question for buyers, investors, and renters remains the same: is real estate in Canadas major cities still a reliable long-term asset, or has the market entered a more cautious and selective phase?

Еhe electric business sedan of a new era
The Mercedes-Benz EQE arrived at the moment when the premium automotive world could no longer treat electric cars as an experiment. After the flagship EQS, the Mercedes-EQ brand introduced a more compact, more athletic and more focused electric business sedan - a car designed to carry the philosophy of the E-Class into a new electric architecture. The EQE was not simply another familiar sedan with a battery in place of an engine. It was created on a platform developed specifically for electric vehicles, which is why it feels like a model of a new era rather than a compromise between past and future.

Prospective investments
We take an extremely careful approach to selecting projects for our clients, and we choose only those located in areas where we expect a sharp rise in prices in the near term. When selecting a project for investment, we don't rely on overall market appreciation - the primary driver of price growth in the projects we select is the coming, substantial appreciation of the neighborhood itself, the area where the condominium will be built. There are many factors that influence how prices shift in a given area, and we study and analyze them carefully; when we conclude that prices there are bound to rise, we begin working with that project.

When Will Rates Rise?
A recent CIBC survey revealed an interesting trend: despite noticeably higher prices, Canadians aren't just continuing to invest in real estate, the share of investors relative to primary-home buyers has actually risen over the course of the pandemic. Today, 25 percent of all property purchased in Ontario isn't being bought as a primary residence, and in many cases, the investors behind these purchases are people just like your neighbours and relatives, people with kids and grandkids of their own.

On top of that, we also keep a close watch on what's happening in other Canadian cities.

Klondike for investors
I want to tell you about a great new investment project we'll be launching for sale in the second half of August, but first, a few words about the condo market overall. The condo market has fully recovered from the 2020 downturn - prices started climbing back in February this year, and over the first 7 months of 2021, prices rose by an average of 12%. All of the excess inventory that had built up on the resale market at the end of last year has now been fully sold off. Rental rates are also quickly clawing back last year's decline. They're still somewhat below what we saw before the pandemic, but with the border fully reopening in September and a huge wave of people set to arrive in Toronto, I have no doubt rental prices will not only reach their previous peak in the near future, but move past it. I don't see any indicators suggesting that price growth for condos will even level off in the foreseeable future.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS became one of those cars that matter not only as a product, but as a sign of a changing era. Due to a high-efficiency battery system, it achieves an electric range of about 100 kilometres (WLTP) as a plug-in hybrid. That is unprecedented in this category to date. It also sets standards with respect to sustainability. And because the C-Class is one of the companys highest-volume model series, this systematic electrification has a correspondingly strong effect on our carbon footprint. Other technical refinements include optional features such as DIGITAL LIGHT and rear-axle steering.

Your first credit product in Canada is not just a plastic card in your wallet. It is the moment when the financial system begins watching how carefully you handle borrowed money. That is why independent play is not just a convenience for parents. It is an important stage of growing up.

Pretty Woman
Pretty Woman turned thirty-five in 2025, and Julia Roberts smile has not aged a day. But the film that enchanted hundreds of millions of viewers worldwide - and single-handedly revived the romantic comedy as a Hollywood genre - almost never existed in the form we know. The original screenplay was a bleak, unsparing portrait of addiction and survival on the streets of Los Angeles. The ending was tragic. The tone was grim. What became the most beloved modern Cinderella story began as something closer to a cautionary tale - and its transformation into a classic is a story almost as dramatic as the film itself.

Lingerie is the one garment layer nobody else sees, which is exactly why most people choose it worst. The same logic that governs a well-chosen swimsuit or a well-cut blazer applies here just as precisely: proportion, undertone, and structure matter more than trend or price tag.

His work changed folk, rock, country, blues and the very language of popular culture. He could irritate fans, disappear, return, change his voice, religious beliefs, sound and stage persona, but again and again he ended up at the centre of the conversation about what a modern song can be.

A home is not only furniture, wall colour and beautiful lighting. A stubborn child can push even the calmest and most patient parents to the edge. The task of parents is not to break this quality, but to help the child learn how to use it wisely.
