The best of the three worlds of i, X and M
The new BMW iX M60
The BMW iX M60 became the first BMW M model developed from the outset as an electric vehicle. It is the most powerful and dynamic version of the BMW iX technology flagship — a vehicle in which electric mobility, premium comfort and a sporting character are brought together in one concept.
The new BMW iX M60 combines sustainability, expressive design and impressive performance. This model brings together the best qualities of three BMW worlds: the advanced electric technology of BMW i, the functionality and confident stance of BMW X, and the uncompromising dynamics of BMW M.
The peak output of the BMW iX M60 electric drive system is 619 hp, while maximum torque reaches 1,100 Nm when Launch Control is activated. This is not merely a fast electric model, but a full representative of a new era for BMW M, where the instant response of electric motors becomes part of the brand’s signature driving pleasure.
Electric mobility in signature BMW M style
The debut of the BMW iX M60 and BMW i4 M50 opened a new chapter in the history of BMW M GmbH. With these models, the brand made its first serious move into the segment of electric performance cars while preserving its own character: precise handling, powerful acceleration and an emotional connection between driver and machine.
The driving pleasure typical of BMW M in the BMW iX M60 comes from the combination of high power, intelligent all-wheel drive and carefully tuned chassis technology. What matters here is not only the acceleration figure, but also how the vehicle delivers torque, how it responds to steering input and how confidently it maintains stability through corners.
Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 3.8 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h — 50 km/h higher than in the BMW iX xDrive50. The BMW iX M60 offers a WLTP range of up to 566 km, making it not only powerful, but also genuinely suitable for longer electric journeys.
The BMW iX M60 is produced at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing alongside the other BMW iX variants.
A unique balance of rigidity, aerodynamics and finely tuned chassis technology
The concept of the BMW iX is built around the combination of high comfort and precise handling. Body rigidity and optimized weight are made possible by an aluminium spaceframe and the Carbon Cage structure using CFRP carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic.
The use of carbon fibre to reduce weight is a long-standing tradition at BMW M GmbH. As early as 2003, this material helped achieve an outstanding power-to-weight ratio in the BMW M3 CSL. Since then, BMW M has consistently advanced the use of CFRP in production cars. Today, components made from this lightweight and strong material can be found in many BMW M models.
The BMW iX M60 achieves an impressive drag coefficient of Cd 0.26. Carefully developed aerodynamics help reduce energy consumption, increase range and improve stability at higher speeds.
A low centre of gravity and balanced axle-load distribution are achieved through the placement of the high-voltage battery in the vehicle floor. This helps the BMW iX M60 remain confident in corners and deliver precise handling in the style of BMW M.
The fifth-generation BMW eDrive system sends power to all four wheels and can instantly distribute torque between the axles. Under normal conditions, the system is tuned with a rear-biased character, but during hard acceleration or loss of grip, power is actively directed to the front wheels as well, improving stability and control. The fast response of the stability system and the precise tuning of the all-wheel-drive system help the vehicle maintain traction in a wide range of conditions.
The BMW iX M60 comes standard with Integral Active Steering and air suspension with automatic ride-height control depending on load. This makes the vehicle stable, comfortable and surprisingly manoeuvrable for its size.
Ride height can be adjusted using a dedicated button on the centre console. Damping characteristics are automatically adapted within milliseconds, taking into account longitudinal and lateral acceleration, vehicle speed and steering angle. More powerful anti-roll bars on the rear axle further underline the model’s sporting character.
BMW eDrive: more powerful and efficient
Two electric motors drive all four wheels of the BMW iX M60, optimally distributing power between the front and rear axles. The motor on the rear axle develops 489 hp, while the front motor produces 258 hp. This architecture delivers not only impressive output, but also immediate response to the accelerator.
The BMW iX M60 uses electrically excited synchronous motors. Unlike motors with permanent magnets, this design does not require rare earth metals for magnetic components. It is an important engineering feature that supports efficiency, power and a more responsible approach to resources at the same time.
The special design of the electric motors and the power electronics control system allow the vehicle to deliver high peak output even at higher speeds. As a result, the BMW iX M60 does not simply launch hard from a standstill; it continues to gain speed with confidence — exactly as one expects from a model carrying the letter M.
The high-voltage battery of the BMW iX M60 has a usable energy content of 105.2 kWh, while total energy content is 111.5 kWh. The vehicle supports AC charging at up to 11 kW and DC fast charging at up to 200 kW.
Using a fast-charging station, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in around 35 minutes. Under favourable conditions, approximately 150 km of range can be added in about 10 minutes, provided the initial battery charge level is at least 10%.
BMW M dynamics with an innovative digital environment
The BMW iX M60 combines the dynamics and handling of BMW M performance models with the latest BMW Group technologies in automated driving, vehicle control and online connectivity.
Like other BMW iX variants, the BMW iX M60 offers a broad range of driver assistance systems. New-generation sensors and high computing power create the foundation for the further development of automated driving and parking functions. At the model’s launch, BMW emphasized the potential of this architecture for future functions with higher levels of automation.
The new-generation BMW iDrive based on BMW Operating System 8 turns communication between driver and vehicle into a more natural dialogue. The user interface is designed around the BMW Curved Display and voice control through the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. Remote Software Upgrade technology allows software to be updated over the air, keeping the electric vehicle’s functions current.
The BMW iX also became one of BMW’s important models in the area of 5G connectivity and smartphone integration through Personal eSIM. Cloud-based BMW Maps navigation and augmented-reality functions help plan routes more quickly and accurately while taking traffic conditions into account.
Clear BMW design language and a premium interior
Sporting proportions, minimalism and attention to detail shape the recognizable appearance of the BMW iX M60. The BMW M electric vehicle is distinguished by blue M Sport brake calipers, BMW Individual Titanium Bronze exterior elements and BMW M badges in the new Gloss Black and Titanium Bronze finish.
The BMW iX M60 comes standard with 21-inch wheels. Optional 22-inch aerodynamic wheels in a Titanium Bronze design further emphasize the model’s technological and sporting character.
The spacious interior helps the driver focus on active driving while also delivering a high level of comfort. The premium atmosphere is enhanced by multifunction seats with integrated head restraints, the BMW Curved Display, the hexagonal steering wheel and anthracite headliner. The absence of a central tunnel creates additional legroom, while the centre console recalls a finely designed piece of modern furniture.
The BMW iX M60 offers a rich list of standard equipment, including BMW Live Cockpit Professional, selected vehicle functions controlled by voice and gesture, the Bowers and Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound system with 4D Audio, laser headlights, Comfort Access, active ventilation for the driver and front passenger seats, an extended heat package and much more.
The Suite interior specification additionally offers natural leather upholstery as well as controls and decorative elements in Gold Bronze.
Regardless of the selected display configuration and My Mode, the M logo appears on the left side of the BMW iX M60 screen. Another individual BMW M feature is Launch Control mode, in which the vehicle signals its readiness for acceleration through pulsation in the seat surfaces and a special display on the BMW Curved Display.
The concept of sustainability
Premium electric mobility in the style of BMW i is defined not only by the absence of local emissions, but also by a more responsible approach to resources throughout the production chain. This comprehensive approach is applied in the development and production of the BMW iX M60.
The cobalt and lithium required for high-voltage battery production are sourced through controlled BMW Group supply channels. The special design of the electric motors eliminates the use of rare earth elements in the magnetic components. BMW also uses aluminium whose production is connected with renewable energy sources, including solar power.
Electricity from renewable sources is used in the production of the batteries and the vehicle as a whole. Recycled aluminium, recycled plastics and natural materials in the interior also play an important role. The cabin uses FSC-certified wood, leather treated with olive leaf extract and floor coverings made with Econyl, a nylon material produced from recycled fishing nets and other plastic waste. All of this makes the BMW iX M60 not just a powerful electric vehicle, but a symbol of how a premium automotive brand is trying to combine performance, technology and a more responsible attitude toward the future.
