Russian School of Mathematics - San Mateo

After-School Math Enrichment for Grades K-12

RSM San Mateo brings the Russian School of Mathematics' after-school math program to Grades K through 12, built on the teaching traditions of elite math schools from the former Soviet Union and adapted for American classrooms. The goal goes beyond solving problems faster: students learn to think mathematically, building the kind of logical, conceptual reasoning that carries over into every subject they study.

Since 1997, RSM's approach has been built around one core idea: math, taught the right way, develops intellect and character, not just calculation speed. RSM San Mateo runs separate program tracks for Elementary (K-2), Elementary (3-5), Middle School, and High School, plus a selective Competition track for students ready for a bigger challenge, with classes meeting 1.5 to 4 hours a week depending on grade level.

Families who need more flexibility can choose RSM Online, private tutoring, or the Summer School program to keep skills sharp between school years. The program is WASC accredited, and every family can schedule a personal evaluation with the school's principal before enrolling, so placement is based on where a child actually is, not just their grade level.

Programs include:
- Elementary math (K-2 and 3-5)
- Middle school and high school math
- A selective competition track
- Private tutoring
- Summer school
- RSM Online classes

Schedule a personal evaluation to see where your child's math foundation stands and which RSM San Mateo track fits best.
