Discovery Academy

Private School from Kindergarten to Grade 12

Discovery Academy is a private school in Richmond Hill for students from kindergarten through Grade 12, founded in 2006 by a physics PhD researcher with close to two decades at the University of Toronto. Today the school has over 150 full-time students and around 500 more taking courses and classes throughout the year, with small classes that let teachers know every child by name.

The program is structured by age: kindergarten keeps a student-to-teacher ratio of no more than 7 to 1, and elementary school (Grades 1-4), capped at 10 students per class, uses the school's own program of more than 300 learning booklets across five core subjects, letting each child move at their own pace. Grades 5 through 8 are immersed in an integrated STEM program, and the high school offers 59 Ontario curriculum courses along with individualized guidance through university admission. A night school is also available for students who need additional courses.

Discovery Academy also welcomes international students from more than 10 countries, with an ESL program and full support through earning the Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
