Pelmeni Juneau is where the whole Alaska pel'meni story began: a small dumpling shop near the Historic Merchants Wharf in downtown Juneau that went on to inspire similar spots in Anchorage and well beyond the state. The menu is just one dish - beef or potato dumplings - dressed with a generous lineup of toppings: butter, curry, cilantro, and sriracha.

For years Pelmeni was the only place open late in downtown Juneau, and over time that earned it genuine local-legend status - locals still talk about nights the dumplings sold out before closing time. The format has stayed simple the whole way through: one dish, fast service, and a line that is rarely empty.

For many visitors and residents alike, this is where they first tried Russian food in Alaska, and for more than a decade it has stayed a must stop in Juneau.
