Gourvits Michael

Certified Translator, Legal and Literary

I am Michael Gourvits, a certified translator and member of OTTIAQ, LTAC, and CTTIC, and before I moved to Montreal from Moscow in 1997, I worked as a historian and journalist there. I handle certified document translation and court interpretation, and I've also translated over 40 books into Russian, including works by Canadian authors, published in Moscow.

Not every certified translator has also spent a career as a historian and translated novels for major publishers, and that background shapes how carefully I handle every document that crosses my desk. I'm Michael Gourvits, certified since 1998 and a full member of OTTIAQ, LTAC, and CTTIC.

Services include:
- Certified translation of all document types
- Court interpretation
- Business negotiation interpretation
- Literary translation: essays, poetry, fiction, and short stories

Beyond certified work, I've translated more than 40 books into Russian, including Canadian authors like Barbara Gowdy and Dennis Foon, with support from the Canada Council for the Arts. I also teach Russian history at Montreal's Russian Sunday schools. Reach out to discuss what you need translated or interpreted.
