Eminence Dance Studio
Ballet, jazz, folk dance and musicals for children from age two
Since 1999, Eminence Dance Studio has been teaching children to love dance: from the first steps in a class for the little ones to performances on real stages with scenery. Groups are formed by age, from two to four up to fifteen to eighteen, and by level, so novices and experienced dancers alike find their crowd. Performances, competitions and holiday concerts turn lessons into an adventure that lasts all year.
The studio repertoire is wide, and most lessons begin with classical ballet as the foundation of flexibility, health and beauty of movement. Children study:
- Ballet and pointe
- Modern and lyrical dance
- Jazz
- Character and folk dance, flamenco
- Hip-hop
- Drama lessons for musicals and theater
Classes are held in groups, and private, semi-private and small group lessons are available as well. There are separate lessons for the little ones aged two to four, while older children can join combo classes, hip-hop and musical theater. In every lesson, children learn where a dance came from, because history and culture are part of the program.
Every year the studio stages musicals on professional stages, including college halls and Strathmore. Past productions include Narnia, Pinocchio, Thumbelina, Jumanji, the Tale of the Golden Cockerel and the Endless Summer Ball. The studio holds holiday concerts called the Endless Summer Ball, the Haunted Halloween Spectacular and the New Year Ball, and also performs at embassies, universities and folk festivals. Studio dancers compete in regional and national contests, and the Young Lady camp welcomes girls in summer and on school breaks.
A choreography and musical theater club runs for parents. Sign up for a trial lesson and let your child try dance.
