Metaphor International Preschool
Bilingual School From Preschool to Grade Six
Preschool and elementary school in the morning where Russian and English go side by side, studios after lessons from theater and ceramics to chess with a grandmaster, and an AP Russian course on Saturdays: Metaphor in Falls Church leads a child from age two to sixth grade and helps them grow in two cultures at once.
Toddlers come to the preschool group from two to five years old, children aged five to six study in kindergarten, and from first through sixth grade there is a dual-education program in which the main subjects are combined with in-depth Russian. For schoolchildren there is an after-school program with transportation, and on Saturdays and Mondays there are academic and enrichment programs.
In the studios and clubs:
- drawing and sculpture
- music and dance
- theater, where children learn to put meaning into words rather than merely pronounce them
- ceramics
- math that builds logical thinking
- chess taught by a grandmaster
For those who want to confirm their level, the school prepares students for the AP Russian and NEWL exams and for the Math Kangaroo, Medvezhonok, Living Classics recitation and Spoken Olympiad competitions. If a child has speech difficulties, the school offers an assessment and speech therapy sessions.
Through the year there are winter, spring and summer camps and holiday concerts. A child is welcome at any level of Russian, from native speakers to beginners.
