Oleynikov Yuri
Ophthalmic Surgeon: LASIK, Cataract, and Cornea
My name is Yuri Oleynikov, an ophthalmic surgeon and cornea specialist, board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. I specialize in laser refractive surgery (LASIK and PRK), corneal implants, and cataract surgery. I practice at the Cornea Laser Vision Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA, where I previously conducted research on the safety and effectiveness of laser eye surgery.
I earned my Doctor of Medicine with Distinction in Biomedical Research from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and trained in eye surgery at the Edward Harkness Eye Institute at Columbia University under Dr. Stephen Trokel, one of the founders of LASIK technology in the United States. I also hold a PhD in Molecular Cell Biology for discovering a new gene and studying protein/RNA transport mechanisms, work that helped lead to a new cancer screening test.
Since 2007, I have been part of the keratoconus research program at Cedars-Sinai, including work on early diagnosis and treatment through corneal crosslinking (INTACS and riboflavin-mediated collagen crosslinking). I have authored numerous scientific publications and presented at national and international ophthalmology and molecular biology conferences.
