Precision Sound

Car audio, remote starts, alarms and cameras installed to order

Precision Sound in Dedham has sold and installed car electronics since 1987: car audio, video and DVD, dash cameras, remote starters, alarms, navigation, GPS trackers, Bluetooth and iPod and iPhone integration. The shop takes on projects of any size, from a simple radio swap to systems built to an individual design, and works on motorcycles too.

The shop motto, "we do what others won't try", explains why people bring unusual jobs here. A project goes through four steps: consult, design, install and present, and the specialists help choose what you really need and stay in touch after the sale.

For sound, systems are put together from radios, speakers, subwoofers and amplifiers to deliver the bass and clarity you want. The installers build custom subwoofer and speaker enclosures, center console trim for an oversized radio, and mounts for overhead and headrest screens.

An alarm is matched to the car: shock and vibration, proximity and lift sensors can be added, and the remote can be one way, two way or built into your existing key fob. The remote start can be chosen too: a one way remote, a two way remote that confirms the start, or even a smartphone as the remote. Car key copies are made here while you wait.

For safety and orientation the shop installs backup cameras and parking sensors, including at the front, in dash or portable navigation with traffic alerts, weather and 3D street views, and GPS trackers that show the car location on a computer or smartphone.

If the electronics are misbehaving, the shop runs diagnostics: from a check engine light and irregular running to a blown fuse or a replacement of the control unit. Remote fobs are repaired and vehicles rewired here, and you can wait for the result in the newly renovated showroom.

Beyond electronics the shop selects and installs:
- tire and wheel packages
- side steps, rain guards and bug shields
- tonneau covers and truck bed liners
- WeatherTech floor mats
- bumper and grill guards
