Rockville: Teremok children theater, dance and Saturday school
The Teremok theater studio teaches children from age three to speak clearly, move freely and love the stage. Acting, stage speech, vocals and choreography, and at the end of the season the children step onto the stage in a report concert and real productions. For those who love to dance, there is the Impulse Dance studio.
Groups are formed by age, and each has its own task:
- Junior group, ages three to five: articulation exercises, breathing, the basics of rhythm and dance, first songs and small numbers
- Intermediate group, ages five to nine: acting, stage speech, stage movement and vocals
- Pre-teen group, ages ten to twelve: acting, vocals and movement on stage
- Teens, ages thirteen to eighteen: acting, vocals, regular rehearsals and work on full-length productions
The studio goal is not only to help a child learn a role. Classes build attention, fantasy and imagination, release excess tension and tightness, and create an atmosphere where a child feels confident and calm. The studio takes care of costumes, scenery, posters and stage rental.
The theater repertoire includes Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, Thumbelina, the Bremen Town Musicians, A Servant of Two Masters and many fairy tales in Russian. The company takes part in international festivals of Russian-speaking children theaters in Washington and brings home awards.
