Russian Overtones Music Academy

Piano, Voice, Guitar, and Composition Lessons in Austin

Here students learn far more than which keys to press: a rigorous Eastern European foundation builds technique, note reading, and rhythm, while ear training, theory, improvisation, and composition turn a student into a complete musician. Lessons in piano, voice, guitar, composition, jazz, and music theory for children, teens, and adults, with preparation for Trinity College London international exams.

The academy method rests on four steps: play, hear, understand, create. Students first build a solid base of technique, accurate reading, and expressive playing. They then learn to listen deeply and to play by ear, study form and harmony to understand why music works, and finally begin to improvise, arrange, and compose their own pieces. The program adapts to age, ability, and ambition, from recreational study to serious performance training.

The stage is not a reward for a chosen few here but part of learning: regular recitals, duet and ensemble playing, festivals, concerto performances, and competitions give children and adults real experience performing. Trinity College London exams offer clear milestones and an independent measure of progress, and students have earned recognition at NFMC festivals and ADMTA competitions.

Start at any age:
- A child taking first steps, with confidence growing from the very first lessons
- A teen finding a voice and a personal musical taste
- An adult who always wanted to sit down at an instrument, because it is never too late
- Anyone who wants to write original music or learn jazz improvisation
