Reproductive Genetic Innovations
Preimplantation Genetics Lab in Northbrook
Reproductive Genetic Innovations (RGI, formerly Reproductive Genetics Institute) in Northbrook is a lab founded in 1989 at the origins of preimplantation genetic testing - in 1990 it reported the first successful US test for cystic fibrosis, and in 2000 it introduced HLA testing that has helped match bone marrow donors for over 500 children.
Today the lab offers the full range of preimplantation genetic testing - PGT-A, PGT-M, PGT-SR, and PGT-HLA - along with embryology and andrology through its IVF lab.
The lab also operates a cryobank and provides genetic counseling for patients undergoing preimplantation testing.
It was also the first to develop pre-pregnancy diagnosis for late-onset conditions like Alzheimer's disease and certain cancers, and established the world's first bank of embryonic stem cells carrying genetic disorders.
