Archangel Michael Orthodox Church

Orthodox Liturgy, Sunday School, Russian Traditions

Since 1922, Orthodox families of Cleveland whose roots reach back to Russia, Ukraine and other Slavic lands have gathered at Archangel Michael parish in Broadview Heights: Sunday Divine Liturgy, a choir, Sunday school and children celebrations in the Russian tradition. The doors are open to everyone looking for an Orthodox church.

Saturday brings confession at 4:30 and Great Vespers at 5:00 in the afternoon. Sunday starts with Divine Liturgy at 9:30, followed by Sunday school. Those who cannot make it in person can watch the Liturgy online on the parish website, on YouTube and on Facebook.

The church is covered in icons, among them Russian saints: Tikhon of Zadonsk and Xenia of Petersburg. Beside them are the martyrs Catherine, Marina and Irene, scenes of the Nativity and the Resurrection, Moses at the burning bush and the sacrifice of Abraham. You can take a first look before visiting, because the website offers a virtual walk through the church.

There is a place for every age in parish life:
- Sunday school for children from age three through ninth grade, with a Christmas program
- the Halos club, running since 1953: Russian dancing, plays and crafts for children up to age 12
- the Junior R Club and Senior R Club for young people: tournaments, charity work and trips
- the church choir and readers
- the 55 plus club for older parishioners: gatherings, trips and summer picnics
- the Samaritans group: meals for people in need and treats for elderly parishioners
- adult classes and Bible study

The parish hall, Woodside Event Center, is available for weddings and family celebrations. And the easiest way to get to know the parish is to join Sunday Liturgy: new faces are always welcome.
