Kurowskis Sausage Shop is a butcher and grocery shop in Chicago's Avondale neighborhood, smoking sausage, ham, and meat by their own recipes since 1997. The staff speaks Polish, and dozens of varieties of homemade sausage hang from the ceiling.

The shop carries Hungarian-style bacon, Ukrainian salo, a wide range of homemade sausage, ham, and shynka, plus a large selection of cheeses and other Eastern European delicacies. Staff will vacuum-pack meat for you if you're flying home or driving far.

People don't just shop here once - families have been making the trip for generations, from when driving in from the suburbs for Polish groceries was the norm, and now they come back with their own kids in tow.
