Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Des Plaines

Holy Virgin Protection Cathedral in Des Plaines is a parish of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia and a spiritual center for Chicago's Russian-speaking community. It is the only church in Chicago where services are conducted in Church Slavonic.

Services are held regularly throughout the week - Vespers and Matins on Thursdays and Fridays, Liturgy on Fridays and Saturdays, an evening Vigil on Saturday, and Sunday Liturgy.

The cathedral operates a parish school named for St. Jonah of Hankou, as well as a Classical Academy - children are accepted from ages 6 to 17, provided they have been baptized in the Orthodox faith.
