Smoked Fish, Caviar, Kefir and Cheese: Russian Groceries in One Store

What does Easter smell like at home: kulich, farmer cheese and smoked fish on the table, and all of these scents are gathered in a small store on Park Road, where since 2003 Russian and Eastern European groceries have stood side by side, and the choice from caviar and dumplings to jam and nuts is made so that you find what you usually look for for months.

The fish counter is the main attraction here: smoked and salted salmon, Atlantic herring, caviar, and next to them fresh meat and baked goods, from ordinary rolls to kulich, the traditional Easter bread. The refrigerator holds kefir and farmer cheese, and the shelves hold jam, nuts, candies, cookies and canned vegetables in jars.

The store is small but packed tight, so people drive in from far away to shop, and the staff are patient and know the selection, and will suggest a substitute for a rare product or which fish to take for the holiday table.

Stop in on an ordinary day for kefir and farmer cheese, and before the holidays for caviar, kulich and smoked fish.
