Palcam manufactures precision replacement components for aluminum die casting tooling and performs complex machining on modern CNC equipment for the automotive industry and other manufacturers. For aluminum die casters, idle tooling is expensive: inserts wear, slides erode and backup blocks fail. Palcam specializes in exactly the parts that have to be replaced again and again, and makes them from the customer's prints and specifications on a CNC fleet in which most of the machines are five-axis machining centres.
What the company makes:
- cavity and core inserts and shaped core pins with complex profiles, machined on five-axis equipment;
- slides, slide inserts, slide carriers and backup blocks;
- shot blocks and distributors that route molten aluminum into the runners;
- cover and ejector blocks, runners, gates, venting and vacuum blocks;
- trim dies on request.
Beyond die casting tooling, the machine fleet is available for contract machining: prototype and repeat runs, large five-axis parts, wire EDM, and tool steels and aluminum. The shop runs DMG MORI and GROB machines and Sodick and AGIE EDM equipment, and quality control includes laser scanning, Hexagon coordinate measuring machines and hardness testing. The quality system is certified to ISO 9001:2015, and for tooling the company also uses metal 3D printing on an SLM 280.
