Church of St Nicholas

Orthodox parish serving the Slavic community

Founded in 1961 by Russian-American retirees who wanted a parish of their own, the Church of St. Nicholas serves Fort Lauderdale Slavic Orthodox community, offering Sunday Divine Liturgy in English and Church Slavonic along with the full range of Orthodox sacraments.

The families who founded this parish took out personal loans and second mortgages to build it - that kind of commitment is still what holds the community together more than sixty years later.

Sacraments and services offered:
- Confession
- Baptism
- Marriage
- Molebens (prayer services)
- Funerals and memorial services
- Blessing of homes and businesses

Sunday Divine Liturgy at 10:00 AM, followed by a coffee hour, with Great Vespers and Confessions on Saturday at 6:00 PM. All services can be conducted in Church Slavonic or English, home to a community of Russian, Carpatho-Russian, Macedonian, Serbian, and Bulgarian heritage.
