Tikvah School of Music and Dance
Bilingual Music and Dance School for Kids
For more than 30 years, Tikvah School of Music and Dance at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco has introduced children ages 2 to 17 to Jewish culture through music, dance, art, and weekly Shabbat gatherings. Classes are taught by bilingual, Russian-speaking instructors, and children sing in English, Russian, Hebrew, and Yiddish while learning ballroom, contemporary, folk, hip-hop, and Israeli dance.
The Tikvah program includes:
- Music lessons building ear training, rhythm, and a repertoire of favorite songs
- Dance classes covering elementary ballet, warm-up, and technique
- Individual piano lessons for children and adults
- Russian language classes built around fairy tales and stories
Each semester ends with a festive performance where children share what they have learned with family and friends. Adult ballroom and other dance classes are also available.
