St Spiridon Orthodox Cathedral

Orthodox Services and Sacraments in the Russian Tradition

St. Spiridon Cathedral is the first Orthodox parish in Seattle: it was founded in 1895 with the blessing of a Russian bishop, and the present church, built in the traditional Russian style of northern churches, was named a cathedral in 1941. It is a parish of the Orthodox Church in America that preserves its Russian church heritage, with doors open to anyone seeking the Orthodox faith.

Cathedral life is built around the Liturgy: on Sundays the Hours are read at 9 AM, the Divine Liturgy begins at 9:30, and on Saturdays Great Vespers is served at 6:30 PM. Services are held mostly in English in the Russian church tradition, so the cathedral suits both those who are just getting to know Orthodoxy and those who grew up in it.

What the cathedral offers:
- Sacraments: baptism, marriage, confession, and Holy Communion, with guidance and preparation rules
- Classes for those just getting to know Orthodoxy
- Prayer requests that can be sent through the website
- Morning and evening prayers, canons, and prayers before Communion, including the general confession in Russian
- An annual autumn bazaar and parish celebrations

Come to the Sunday Liturgy: everyone is welcome in this cathedral.
