Ukrainian Catholic Parish Since 1927
The Ukrainian Catholic Church of St. Mary has served Vancouver Ukrainian Catholic community since 1927, following the Byzantine Rite under the Order of St. Basil the Great. The parish offers Divine Liturgy in both English and Ukrainian, alongside language classes, an embroidery club, and community events throughout the year, making it a spiritual and cultural home for the community alike.
With roots going back to 1911 and formal parish status since 1927, the Ukrainian Catholic Church of St. Mary has grown alongside Vancouver's Ukrainian Catholic community for over a century, settling at its current 14th Avenue location in 1962.
What the parish offers:
- Divine Liturgy in English (8:30am Sundays) and Ukrainian (10:30am Sundays), plus daily services Monday through Saturday
- Ukrainian language classes for adults through Taras Shevchenko School
- A Ukrainian embroidery club
- Altar server opportunities for young men
- Community gatherings, including an annual Ukrainian Christmas Fair
Led by Fr. Joseph Pidskalny and Fr. Dionisiy Zavedyuk of the Order of St. Basil the Great, the parish welcomes both longtime members and newcomers to the Byzantine Rite tradition.
