Historic Orthodox Parish Since 1938

Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church in Vancouver Strathcona neighbourhood has served the city Orthodox community since 1938, when Archpriest Alexander Kiziun, a Russian missionary priest and builder, constructed the church largely by hand from salvaged materials. Today, under Archpriest Fr. Sergei Overt, the parish holds regular Divine Liturgy and Vespers, runs a church school for children, and welcomes the community for fellowship and potluck lunches after Sunday services.

Few churches in Vancouver carry the kind of history Holy Trinity does. Built between 1938 and 1940 by Archpriest Alexander Kiziun, a Russian missionary priest who fled to North America after the Bolshevik Revolution, the church was constructed largely from salvaged materials in traditional Russian Orthodox style, making it, in the words of one Vancouver civic historian, unique in its construction and character. Father Kiziun built it to serve the many Slavic immigrants, Russian, Serbian, and Greek, who settled in the Strathcona neighbourhood.

Today the parish continues that legacy under Archpriest Fr. Sergei Overt:
- Saturday Vigil at 6:00pm
- Sunday Divine Liturgy at 10:00am
- Sunday fellowship and potluck lunch at 1:00pm
- Church school for children after Liturgy
- Bilingual services in English and Church Slavonic
