Samarkand Restaurant
Uzbek and Tajik Kitchen: Plov, Kebabs, Tandoor Bread
Samarkand was long the crossroads of the Silk Road, where caravans, cultures, and cuisines met, and that spirit of hospitality now lives in Denver. The kitchen cooks the way it is done in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan: unhurried, from recipes passed down through generations, welcoming every guest like family.
Come when you crave:
- True plov from a cast-iron kazan, along with hand-folded manti dumplings, lagman noodle soup, and shurpa, all cooked by hand and without hurry
- Kebabs of lamb, beef, chicken, and salmon, lyulya kebab, and lamb chops grilled over open coals
- Hot samsa pastries and flatbread baked against the wall of a real tandoor
- Qurutob and other Tajik dishes that are hard to find elsewhere
- The flavors of a childhood table: Olivier salad, borscht, honey cake, and homemade fruit compote
All of the meat is halal certified and no alcohol is served, so the room is calm and comfortable for the whole family, and children are always welcome. The large dining hall seats 60 at tables for 2, 4, 6, and 10 that can be pushed together for a birthday, an anniversary, or a banquet. Free parking and Wi-Fi are right at the door. Pickup orders are taken by phone and WhatsApp, and delivery goes through DoorDash and Uber Eats.
