Первым классом по дорогам и бездорожью

Like the GL before it, the new Mercedes-Benz GLS sets standards in the world of large premium SUVs and confirms its status as the S-Class among SUVs. It is a true seven-seater in the European premium segment, offering genuine interior space, a high level of luxury, impressive comfort, confident dynamics and advanced safety technology. Whether used for everyday driving, long family journeys or occasional excursions beyond paved roads, the GLS handles a wide range of scenarios with the calm superiority expected from a large Mercedes-Benz.

Compared with its predecessor, the new generation is more efficient and features an expanded range of DYNAMIC SELECT driving modes, the latest version of AIRMATIC air suspension with an enhanced ADS adaptive damping system, the 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission, modern assistance systems and the latest-generation telematics with internet access.

Even more power, dynamism and presence are offered by the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 4MATIC. With a maximum output of 430 kW, or 585 hp, specially tuned suspension and the upgraded AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC transmission, it stands at the top of the GLS model range. As standard, the AMG version receives AMG DYNAMIC SELECT driving modes, AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive with a rear-biased setup, as well as updated AMG styling and a more sporting, luxurious interior.

The new dynamic exterior and transformed luxury interior clearly emphasize the impressive character of the GLS. During the facelift, the large premium SUV was brought into line with the current Mercedes-Benz design language. On the outside, the focus is on the redesigned front end, while the rear has been updated primarily around the bumper and taillights. Inside, the refreshed instrument panel with a partially integrated multimedia display, new three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, modified centre console with touchpad, new interior colours and revised trim elements attract immediate attention.

New exterior lines

The new GLS expresses the idea of harmony and modern luxury in a convincing way. Chrome details add attractive highlights to the exterior, including roof rails, underbody protection, side mouldings, the tailgate handle and decorative sill plates.

For those who prefer a sportier character, the AMG Line exterior is available. It includes distinctive front and rear bumpers, running boards, body-coloured wheel-arch flares and 21-inch AMG light-alloy wheels. The optional Night Package, available in combination with AMG Line, creates an even more expressive and exclusive appearance.

A broad palette of solid and metallic paint finishes offers further individualization, including two special designo colours new to the GLS: designo diamond white bright and designo hyacinth red metallic. In addition, buyers can choose from an extensive range of new light-alloy wheels in various designs.

The transformed interior underlines the GLS ambition to deliver first-class luxury. In terms of cabin execution, the vehicle genuinely aims to live up to the image of the S-Class among SUVs. As before, the new GLS offers real space on all three rows of seats. Headroom, elbow room, shoulder room and the distance between the rows remain traditional strengths of the model. The middle row provides broad adjustment possibilities and makes the cabin flexible in everyday use; the Cargo position, for example, optimizes the luggage compartment. With usable cargo volume ranging from 680 to 2,300 litres, the GLS remains one of the most spacious vehicles among its European competitors. Maximum cargo-area length reaches 2,124 mm, while payload capacity is up to 815 kg.

Notable interior details include the new three-spoke multifunction steering wheel trimmed in nappa leather, with shift paddles, 12 function buttons and a leather-covered driver airbag cover. The instruments and instrument panel have also been revised, with a partially integrated colour multimedia display. Among the options for the new GLS is an ionization system designed to improve the quality of the air inside the cabin.

Individual accents can be added to the interior with a multifunction steering wheel trimmed in leather and wood, LED ambient lighting with three colour modes and a wide selection of large trim elements for the instrument panel and door panels, including matching sliding covers for the cupholders.

Modern telecommunications and infotainment functions are provided by the latest-generation COMAND Online system, which includes an 8-inch colour multimedia display and an intuitively operated touchpad.

Exclusive interior lines for the highest expectations

The optional EXCLUSIVE interior line, in addition to LED ambient lighting and piano lacquer black trim or various wood trim options, offers five attractive natural-leather interior colour schemes: black, ginger beige/espresso brown, saddle brown/black, crystal grey/black and ginger beige/black. With the designo Exclusive Package, an even more refined impression is created by the heated comfort front seats upholstered in designo nappa leather with distinctive diamond quilting.

The AMG Line interior brings a more sporting note. For the first time in the GLS, it includes sport seats upholstered in nappa leather, a three-spoke multifunction sport steering wheel in black nappa leather, special instrument dials with chequered-flag graphics and brushed stainless-steel sports pedals with rubber studs.

Maximum possible safety for seven travellers

The active safety equipment of the new GLS reflects the high standards Mercedes-Benz sets for itself in reducing the driver’s workload. Standard driver assistance systems include COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS, Crosswind Assist and ATTENTION ASSIST fatigue monitoring. The GLS is also equipped as standard with PRE-SAFE®, BAS emergency brake assist, the 4ETS electronic traction system, ESP® Curve Dynamic Assist, TEMPOMAT cruise control with SPEEDTRONIC variable speed limiter and STEER CONTROL.

The optional Driving Assistance Plus package reduces the burden on the driver even further while improving safety. It includes DISTRONIC PLUS adaptive cruise control with StopandGo Pilot, PRE-SAFE® Brake with pedestrian detection, BAS PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist and PRE-SAFE® PLUS.

The vehicle’s maximum protective potential is created through the combination of passive safety systems, intelligent body structure and the “electronic crumple zones” formed by its assistance systems. Standard equipment includes adaptive front airbags with two-stage deployment, side airbags for the driver and front passenger, and window airbags protecting occupants on all three rows of seats.

The optional LED Intelligent Light System provides better visibility at night. In poor weather, MAGIC VISION CONTROL helps maintain visibility through an adaptive heated windshield-wiper system with more precise and efficient distribution of washer fluid.

Efficient power: the GLS engine range

All engines in the new GLS offer improved dynamic performance with more rational fuel consumption. The impressive GLS 500 4MATIC is powered by a biturbo V8 with direct petrol injection and now develops 335 kW, or 455 hp — 15 kW, or 20 hp, more than its predecessor. Maximum torque is 700 Nm, allowing the vehicle to combine strong performance with the refined operating comfort of a large-displacement powertrain.

The GLS 400 4MATIC uses a biturbo V6 with direct injection. This engine produces 245 kW, or 333 hp, and 480 Nm of torque from as low as 1,600 rpm. Like all versions, it is equipped with ECO Start/Stop.

The flagship of the range, the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 4MATIC, develops 430 kW, or 585 hp — 20 kW, or 28 hp, more than its predecessor. Maximum torque of 760 Nm is available from 1,750 rpm. Despite the significant increase in output, fuel consumption remains unchanged.

Alongside the petrol engines, the proven V6 diesel is also offered. With 183 kW, or 249 hp, it gives the GLS 350 d 4MATIC a strong 620 Nm of torque.

With the launch of the new-generation GLS, all versions except the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 are equipped as standard with the 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission. In combination with the optional Offroad Engineering package, a low-range gear and centre differential lock are available.

DYNAMIC SELECT, AIRMATIC, ADS and ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM

The new GLS offers up to six DYNAMIC SELECT driving modes. Alongside Comfort, Slippery and Sport, the driver can select Individual and an Offroad mode for light off-road driving. If the GLS is equipped with the optional Offroad Engineering package, an additional Offroad+ mode becomes available. In this case, low-range gearing and the centre differential lock can be activated when needed, helping to provide a high level of capability on difficult terrain. AIRMATIC air suspension can raise ground clearance to as much as 306 mm and allows the vehicle to ford water up to 600 mm deep.

Along with the advanced drivetrain configuration, the retuned AIRMATIC air suspension with enhanced ADS adaptive damping ensures stable and comfortable driving. Damper characteristics change according to the selected DYNAMIC SELECT mode. In Sport mode, the focus is on high lateral dynamics while maintaining good ride comfort. In Comfort mode, the priority is maximum ride refinement with optimal handling.

The optional ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM uses active anti-roll bars on the front and rear axles to reduce body roll in corners. Its advantages include greater comfort both when cornering and driving in a straight line, as well as enhanced ability away from paved roads.

With the launch of the new GLS, Mercedes-Benz offers one of the youngest and broadest premium SUV lineups. It includes the compact GLA, the new GLC, the GLE family, the GLE Coupé, the GLS and, at the far end of the spectrum, the legendary G-Class — the original Mercedes-Benz off-road icon.

The breadth of the GLS capabilities is especially compelling for buyers in North America, where large seven-seat luxury SUVs have long enjoyed strong demand. For family life, travel and everyday comfort, it remains one of the most convincing formats in the premium segment.
