The New BMW 4 Series Coupé (G22)
The BMW 4 Series Coupé has never looked or felt more distinctly its own - sharper, sportier, and more confident than any generation before it - while staying unmistakably true to everything the 4 Series Coupé has always stood for.
A Bolder Silhouette
The new BMW 4 Series Coupé fuses the language of BMW's sports cars with the brand's latest design vocabulary. Revised proportions and a longer body give the car a distinctly more dynamic stance. Overall length grows by 128 mm to 4,768 mm, width increases by 27 mm to 1,852 mm, while height rises by just 6 mm to 1,383 mm - keeping the coupé 57 mm lower than the BMW 3 Series Sedan. The track has also widened, by 28 mm at the front and 18 mm at the rear.
The signature vertical kidney grille is now forward-slanted and extends all the way to the lower edge of the bumper. The large air intakes feature the same mesh pattern found on BMW M models. The twin-vertical grille design is a contemporary reinterpretation of design cues from the historic BMW 328 and BMW 3.0 CSi. Elongated headlights with elegant contours extend into the front fenders, visually setting the coupé apart from the rest of the BMW lineup.
An Interior Built Around the Driver
The driver-oriented dashboard is finished, as always, in high-quality materials. The layout of the instrument panel, the raised center console, and the door trim work together to create a genuinely comfortable environment for both driver and front passenger. Rear passengers get two individual seats with integrated headrests. Acoustically optimized glazing reduces cabin noise, making longer drives noticeably more relaxed.
The BMW 4 Series Coupé comes equipped with the latest version of the 8-speed Steptronic transmission. A new Sprint function adjusts engine response and shift behavior for maximum acceleration during overtaking and sharper responsiveness during quick maneuvers.
Sharper Handling, Lower Center of Gravity
Structural changes throughout the car have improved handling precision and driver feedback. Body rigidity has increased, aerodynamics have been optimized, and the center of gravity now sits 21 mm lower than in the BMW 3 Series Sedan. Both the standard suspension and the M Sport suspension receive dedicated damper tuning.
Available options include adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers and adaptive M Sport steering, an M Sport brake system with blue or red calipers, and an electronically controlled M Sport differential.
A Significant Leap in Driver-Assistance Technology
The new BMW 4 Series Coupé offers considerably more driver-assistance systems than its predecessor. Driving Assistant Professional includes steering assistance and a lane-following function with active route guidance, drawing on navigation data to help the driver merge and change lanes at the right moment. The parking assistant now includes reverse-assist, and Parking Assistant Plus adds the new BMW Drive Recorder, which captures 40-second video clips of the space around the vehicle.
The next-generation BMW Head-Up Display projects an image area 70 percent larger than before. BMW Live Cockpit Professional includes 3D visualization of the surrounding terrain, along with features that preview upcoming road situations and flag potential driver-assistance interventions.
A built-in SIM card with 4G LTE, paired with the Connected Professional package, unlocks BMW TeleServices, an intelligent emergency call system, a concierge service, and real-time traffic information. BMW Operating System 7.0 lets drivers control vehicle functions through the touchscreen, the iDrive controller, multifunction steering wheel buttons, voice control, or gesture control.
BMW Live Cockpit Professional combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a 10.25-inch central information display. The digital instrument panel presents navigation data, driver-assistance indicators, and the 3D terrain visualization. The new BMW 4 Series Coupé also introduces the cloud-based BMW Maps navigation system. Both BMW Live Cockpit and BMW Live Cockpit Professional support smartphone integration through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Remote Software Upgrade brings over-the-air software updates to the vehicle.
